1) So, Drew, in a desperate attempt to rid himself of an obsessive girl, asked me to pretend to be his boyfriend. I don’t know why he didn’t ask a girl and I don’t know why I ever said yes. Not only could I not go to school unrecognized anymore, but Drew acted like we really were a couple. He kept calling me baby several times. I had to ask him to stop the charade because Drew is my friend. He’s like my brother, actually. I mean, he’s certainly attractive, but beyond that, I could never date someone like him for real. Or could I … ?
2) Persepolis seems pretty cool. It’s basically about an outspoken girl during the Iranian Revolution. And it’s in French, oh la la!
3) V-necks can be tricky, so I’ll just give tips for guys and girls.
GUYS: Please, whatever you do, don’t wear v-necks that show way too much chest or hair, especially the latter. If you wear a really deep V-neck, at least compliment it with a necklace or some sort of diversion (like a scarf). Try to stick with a safe length and play with it by wearing collared shirts and even shirts with ties. You can also just wear a shirt underneath, just make sure it’s a completely contrasting color (for example, if you wear a bright green v-neck, wear a duller tone, like a soft grey or light periwinkle; if you wear a midnight blue v-neck, wear a brighter colored shirt underneath, like an ivory or orange color).
GIRLS: Essentially just follow what I mentioned above; avoid wearing a v-neck that shows too much cleavage (and if you have hair, then … you probably should see a doctor). V-necks, in this case, accentuate your bust, so if you have a small one, you can get away with wearing a deeper one. If you have a large bust, be careful, unless that’s your intention, which is out of my league (try crew or square necklines with deeper lengths). However, I highly suggest wearing jewelry, necklaces and decorative scarves. You can also wear a collared shirt as well. Follow the color scheme I mentioned above, too.
Have a stellar weekend! -Henry

1) The Boy Who Shall Not Be Named ruined my intentions of having a pleasant Valentine’s Day, so I decided to spoil the holiday by tampering with other couples and greeting cards. I failed (miserably). But a charming Quebecois couple showed me the importance of love through their carefree companionship, and perhaps how inexplicable and profound the notion of love really is.
2) I’m very excited about the new Harvey Milk film (with a simple title, Milk) in production. I know it’s going to be good; Gus Van Sant is directing it, plus it has Sean Penn, James Franco and even an actor from the High School Musical series.
3) I think white is in this season for some reason. That and fur (faux, of course). I think I read something about black and white suits in Vogue, but it’s pure coincidence, I assure you.
Nos vemos pronto! -Henry

2.9.08 – RECAP AND REVIEWS :: Math Crush, Obama and Hillary, Tucking Shirts. February 9, 2008

1) For the first time, I actually got a crush on a teacher. Mr. Deary was a breath of fresh air. He was intelligent, handsome, charming and [insert complimentary adjective]. Of course, he was, like, really older than me and all of this sounds silly. It’s only a ridiculous kiddie crush, but still …
2) I’ve been looking at TV on and off and apparently Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have the same amount of delegates. What are those? Do they represent something? Anyway, it’s really exciting to think one of them could be president!
3) Guys should start tucking their shirts in more. Obviously, it presents a more well-kept demeanor, but beyond that, the alternative makes one look lazy or like an early 90s reject.
Bye! -Henry

1) So Pam has a guy and Dad is jealous. Is that possible? I don’t understand why Dad cares, to be honest. Pam is always so mean to him and he actually misses it? Interesting.
2) Today is Groundhog’s Day, so I’m hoping Phil will see his shadow. I love winter. I am a snow baby.
3) Dan Wilson’s voice is so soothing to listen to. I’ve been playing “All Kinds” over and over and it is all kinds of beautiful (that’s a pun, if you didn’t notice).
Anyway, stay warm! -Henry
NEXT WEEK’S STRIPS :: Henry is “hot for teacher.”
